Good box, slow shipping

I ordered the Ancient Egypt Box for my son. The contents were great, really engaging crafts and stories that kept him interested. The only downside was the shipping; it took almost two weeks to arrive, which felt a bit long. Otherwise, a solid purchase.

Well-rounded history experience

We got the Renaissance Box as a single purchase to try it out. Ordering online was straightforward, and I received a confirmation email quickly. The box itself came well-packaged. Inside, the historical fiction book was a nice touch, and the crafts were surprisingly sturdy. My daughter really enjoyed making the miniature castle. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about an upcoming box's theme, getting back to me within a day. The map activity was a little basic for her age group, but overall, it provided a good, hands-on learning experience.

Fun for my kids

I grabbed the Viking Box for my two boys. They loved it! The crafts were easy enough for them, and they spent a good afternoon putting everything together. It was cool how it all tied into the stories. Delivery was fine, nothing special, but it got here without any issues.

thinking about getting the annual subscription, any specific codes for that? or is it just the regular savings they mention?

O Omar Lindqvist 1 month ago
Usually, the annual sub already bakes in a discount compared to monthly, but sometimes they have extra codes around Black Friday or for new subscribers. Keep an eye on their newsletter.

I think I saw a 'longer commitment' kind of discount mentioned somewhere, but like the other person said, check during bigger sales events. Might get a few extra bucks off.

how long does it typically take for the boxes to get to California? planning to start a unit soon.

S Sophie Patel 1 month ago
Mine usually get to me in NorCal within a week or so after shipping. They're pretty consistent once it's out the door.

From what I remember, east coast is maybe 3-5 days, so I'd budget a week plus a couple days for you in CA just to be safe. It's not Amazon speed but not super slow either.

is it possible to just buy one box, say the Ancient Egypt one, without signing up for a whole subscription?

B Brett S. 1 month ago
Yep, you can! They have an option for single box purchases. Just look for it on the product pages, I think it's usually listed next to the subscription options.

Yeah, I bought a couple single boxes to try them out before committing to a sub. Super easy.

are the stories and curriculum truly secular? important for our homeschooling approach.

D Daisy 1 month ago
From what I've seen, it's pretty neutral and just focuses on historical facts and cultures without any religious bias. They aim for an objective historical view.

Yeah, it's definitely secular. They stick to the historical accounts and don't push any particular viewpoint, which is why we chose them.

how does this compare to KiwiCo? My kids liked some of their boxes but we want more history focus.

A Alex 2 months ago
KiwiCo is more STEM/crafts generally, right? History Unboxed is way more history-specific. Like, actual stories and artifacts, less 'build a robot'. If you want history, HU is definitely better.
